 The founder of ShareMedicalSpace.com is Dr. Ari Weitzner, a Brooklyn ophthalmologist in private practice since 1992. Dr. Weitzner is affiliated with the Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat, Maimonides and Montefiore hospitals, and supervises residents at the SUNY Downstate/Kings County residency program on a part-time basis. He graduated from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine.
Like many doctors, Dr. Weitzner was frustrated with falling fees and rising overhead, and sought ways to cover his increasing operating costs. Since he worked away from his Brooklyn office twice a week, and the neighborhood where his office was located had experienced an influx of Russian immigrants, Dr. Weitzner sought a Russian-speaking ophthalmologist to share his office when he was not there. After searching for several frustrating months using word-of-mouth and classified ads, Dr. Weitzner finally got lucky and found the perfect match.
While stuck in traffic one day during his commute home, Dr. Weitzner reflected on his “hit-or-miss” experience searching for a suitable doctor to share his space. It occurred to him that a website focused exclusively on advertising vacant medical and dental office space would have saved him a great deal of time and effort. The idea of ShareMedicalSpace.com was born.
Dr. Weitzner is optimistic about the prospects for ShareMedicalSpace.com. He continues to receive positive feedback from numerous physicians who have used the site to both advertise and search for vacant medical and dental office space.
“I honestly think doctors will be grateful to have a site like this,” Dr. Weitzner says. “Considering how challenging medical economics is today, I am happy to provide this service to my colleagues.”
